Stamford, CT (February 14, 2025) – At 5:38 pm on Friday, the Stamford 911 center received a call reporting a house on fire at 79 Loughran Ave.
Stamford Fire Department’s Engine 9 arrived approximately 3 minutes later and encountered heavy fire venting from the front door of the 1 ½ story residence. Engine 9’s crew stretched a hose line and began extinguishing heavy fire in the living and dining room area. The home was vented for smoke, and searches for occupants were conducted. The fire was declared under control at 6:07 P.M.
The Stamford Fire Department responded with four engine companies, one truck company, one rescue company, and two Command units, along with support staff totaling 30 firefighters to mitigate the incident. Stamford EMS responded and checked two of the occupants for smoke inhalation; they were released on the scene. No civilian or fire department injuries were reported.
There was extensive fire damage to the living room and dining room areas, with smoke and water damage throughout. Three people were displaced by the fire and received relocation assistance from the Red Cross.
The Stamford Fire Marshal’s Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
