It is with deep regret that the Stamford Fire Department announces the passing of Edward J. Malarkey.  He was a life-long Stamford resident and passed quietly on April 27, 2024, with his family by his side. He was 88 years old.

Edward (Ed, Eddie) is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia (Wescott), and their children: Susan (David), Nancy-Jean, Daniel (Martha), Sharon and Linda. He was the loving grandfather to Amanda, Travis, Daniel Jr., Brandon, Steven, Zachary, Lance, and Caralyn. He is also survived by his sister, Veronica, and was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Bernard, Robert, John, Margaret, and Irene.

Ed graduated from St. Basil’s and worked at Bill & Fred’s in Springdale for many years. He served in the US Army. He was a firefighter at the Stamford Fire Department from 1958 to 1980. He was an 18-gallon blood donor. Ed played baseball and golf and coached Little League. He enjoyed traveling with his wife. Above all, Eddie loved his family.

A service will be held on May 20, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Church, 948 Newfield Ave., Stamford.
