STAMFORD, CT (December 14, 2023) – At 1:49 PM, Stamford firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at 53 Carriage Drive in the Westover neighborhood. 

The first-arriving fire company from the West Side Fire Station found visible fire from the roof of a 2-story, single-family residential structure. 

Firefighters from Stamford and Turn of River fire stations ventilated the roof and extinguished the fire that appeared to have started in a second-floor bathroom.  Five occupants in the home evacuated on their own prior to the Fire Department's arrival and were not injured.  

The fire was placed under control within 15 minutes of the initial arrival. Firefighters remained on the scene for an additional hour performing overhaul and salvage duties.

A total of 5 Engine Companies, 1 Truck Company, 1 Heavy Rescue Company, and the Shift Commander operated at the scene with a total of 34 career and volunteer personnel.

There were no injuries to firefighters working at the scene.

Additional scene support was provided by the Stamford Emergency Medical Services, the Stamford Fire Department Training Division, and the Stamford Fire Department Mechanical Division.

The Stamford Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
