Remember to clean out lint traps on clothes dryers.
At approximately 12:24 pm on Thursday, June 8th 2023, the City of Stamford Combined Dispatch Center (911 Center) received a report of a laundry room fire in a private residence at 77 Wake Robin Lane located in the Turn of River area of Stamford. Fire Companies from the Turn of River, Woodside, Springdale, Glenbrook and Central firehouses responded to the scene. First arriving crews were met with a smoke condition coming from the rear of the residence and stretched a hose line to extinguish the fire and performed mechanical ventilation. Further investigation indicated that the fire had been contained to the area of the clothes dryer in the lower level of the residence. While the fire was contained to the laundry area there was smoke damage throughout the residence. The incident was placed under control by on scene incident command at 12:45 pm. The Stamford Fire Marshals Division is investigating the cause of the fire at this time.
The Stamford Fire Department response included 4 Engine Companies, 1 Truck Company, 1 Rescue Company, 1 Incident Commander and 1 Staff Chief as well as water tanker trucks from the Long Ridge Fire Company and the Turn of River Fire Department for a total of 27 firefighters and officers.
The Stamford Fire Department would like to remind residents clean out the lint traps in their clothes dryers before every load to reduce the chance of fire.
