EARLY MORNING GARAGE FIRE ON DIAZ STREET QUICKLY CONTAINED BY STAMFORD FIREFIGHTERS
STAMFORD, CT (November 22, 2020) – At 05:00 AM, Stamford firefighters were alerted to a report of a large garage on fire near several residences on Diaz Street in Stamford. 3 Engine Companies, 1 Ladder Truck, 1 Rescue Company and the Shift Commander responded bringing a total of 22 fire personnel to the scene.
Firefighters arrived on scene in less than three minutes and found a large 3-bay garage that was well-involved in fire. The fire was venting through the roof of the building and impinging on several adjacent residences. Fire personnel were able to quickly extinguish and contain the fire and safely evacuate the occupants of all affected homes. The fire was placed under control within 15 minutes of the arrival of the first fire companies.
One firefighter sustained a minor injury during the course of firefighting operations.
Additional scene support was provided by Stamford Emergency Medical Services and the Stamford Police Department.
The Stamford Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of fire.
