(Stamford, CT) A one-alarm shed fire, which extended to an occupied house, occurred at 76 Highland Road this afternoon. The 9-1-1 center received a call at 5:22 pm reporting a garage fire. Four engines, one truck, one rescue and the deputy chief responded to the alarm arriving within three minutes. Upon arrival a shed was found burning at the rear of the two family house. All of the occupants had exited prior to the fire department’s arrival. The fire had extended to the siding on the house as well. Firefighters extinguished the fire and confirmed that there was no extension into the building. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the City Fire Marshal’s Office. It was noted that there were no working smoke detectors within the house. Stamford firefighters installed smoke detectors in the house prior to leaving the scene assuring protection that was previously lacking. The last fire company cleared the scene at 6:00 PM.
