Martin recruits retired veteran to lead fire departmentMayor David Martin has selected former Stamford Fire & Rescue Assistant Fire Chief Peter Brown as the city’s new fire chief, an appointment cheered Thursday by firefighters from both the career and volunteer ranks. Brown, a 40-year veteran of Stamford’s fire services, retired last year after clashing with former Mayor Michael Pavia over the reorganization of the career and volunteer fire companies.
